The 2024 EXPO for SMPK1 BPK PENABUR was truly amazing. There were numerous activities througout the whole school, along with food stands and bazaars all over the place. It was loud, it was fun, and most importantly, it was hype. A lot of different classes worked together to create a good stand worthy for the customers.
We started the EXPO.. several days before, actually. The teachers had instructed us to set up the whole place first, practice, warm up, and just overall get the gist of it before going to the real deal. And to be fair, that was really helpful in almost every aspect, whether it's planning, or routing, or cooking up marketing strategies, getting ready several days before was really a great idea. (even though most of us were lazy)
When the day of the event had arrived, it started off strong, with music coming from the center of the school-- a lifted stage that stood up singers, dancers, performers, music bands, you name it. There were also several cultural activities, too, that appreciated the vast history of Indonesia.
To add to that, there were also several performers, singers, and dancers, too.
There were science fairs and experiments as well, for the more nerdy people, to say the least.
But that's enough for the outside part. Now it's time for what my class prepared, alongside the class right next door.
We planned a little photobooth stand, with ringlights and even the professional flashing lights that those real cameramen use. Yes, the ones that seemed to have some sort of foil around the actual light, with its purpose to amplify the light rays coming from the bulb.
We utilized a rather mid-ranged professional camera that had all the features we needed, with a polaroid lens and an anti-glare lens. To accompany that, some people worked on the softwares to transfer the photos, which are then edited to fit into cute little digital picture frames, adding some color filters, and then sent out again to another station, where someone would handle the printing and the distribution of those photos.
What's more is that there also happened to be a nail salon of some sort, where numerous girls would literally get their nails done INSIDE of school boundaries.
Seems pretty crazy, but that's not even the best part.
Me and several other friends set up a DJ booth, fitted with 2 laptops running simultaneously, one with the DJ software, namely Serato, and another to find songs (in case of a song request). However that didn't really work, since the connection there was comparable to utter trash. So we used it as a battery backup.
There was also the physical thing that DJ's use, albeit a slightly nerfed-down version. It still had a mixer, controller, turntables, and some other necessary stuff.
This is what the setup looked like. (it was much more hectic in real life, not sure why it seems very neat and simple in the picture. most likely due to the cables not being seen, as well as the other laptop)
Even though all that might seem redundant for just a school event, we all had fun, and made a little bit of profit in the end.
*behind the scenes
And that's about it for this year's EXPO. There definitely were some things that I left out, but they weren't entirely useful nor necessary.
Thank you.
