Everyone yearns for a break, not one person is excepted. So when the time comes, it's bound to be hype.
Shortly after the break, I packed up, which barely took an hour due to the excitement, and 2 days later I set off to North America. The flight itself took over 30 hours in total (transit to Qatar included), and also the flight back home; which means that I was in the air for about 2 and a half days, truly mesmerising if you think about it.
I arrived at JFK Airport in New York, where I would stay for 5 days. Though we were all ecstatic about the fact that we have reached our destination, a problem would soon arise. Our baggages were either gone, stolen, or just completely broken! What a nice way to start a holiday, isn't it?
But that's besides the point. It took a few days for all of our baggages to arrive back at us, and in the meantime, we went around the city through the Big Bus Tours. If it isnt self-explanatory enough, it's basically a big bus that goes around the city where you can listen to the tour. Though most people just ride it simply for sightseeing.
We went in a ferry to go and visit the Statue of Liberty, which, quite frankly, is much bigger in real life than what it looks like in the photos, even I was rather shocked. The ferry itself, not being too big, swayed back and forth a little, which lead to a baby throwing up in the back..
We circled around it for about half an hour before returning back to the docks. We walked for about an hour (sounds like alot but doesn't feel like an hour when you actually do it) to a couple stores, one of which was a nice Prada store where we met a couple of my mother's friends.
He introduced himself as Jack, in which he is, not proud to be, and secretly, gay. Jack over here, unlike most of the crazy people I met in new york- including people who urinate in the MIDDLE OF THE STREET, is actually able to have a serious conversation with others. He brought us to this fusion Japanese restaurant which brings out food in such small portions you start wondering if you're gonna starve to death first or burst out in anger first.
The food is good though, nontheless. The dim and slightly yellow lighting with the peculiar looking waiters, its as if I wasn't supposed to be there, as if this was hidden from the public, as if there was something underlying, but if you said I enjoyed it; you're god damn right.
The rest of the days in New York I just walked around the city (again), went to a few landscapes and partks, and that was pretty much it. Took a flight down to Orlando, Florida, where there is absolutely nothing but parking spaces, more parking spaces, and a heck load of amusement parks, surprisingly.
Orlando is known for being very boring and barren, empty, whatever word similar to that, its there. However it also has one of the highest amusement-park-to-land-area ratio in the entire world, because of how many there, and just how big they are. Universal studios alone has 3 parks in Orlando, which is honestly insane. I wasn't able to go to Disneyland though- my body was acting up that day (I was sick).
Orlando didn't have much to offer anyways, so we quickly went to Miami by car, which took about 3-4 hours. Now, Miami's other name, for locals, is "The City of Strip Clubs," and they aren't wrong. Just a couple meters left from my Airbnb is a strip club, and just next to it is yet another strip club. But OBVIOUSLY I wasn't in Miami for the strip clubs. I was there for.. THE GTA V VIEW!!
If you didn't know, GTA V, which absolutely broke the entire gaming community during its release, ammased over 1 Billion dollars in sales. Yeah, you can immediately tell it's one of the most popular games out there. And GTA V, coincidentally (not coincidentally), resided in.. Miami! So yup, even though I was supposed to enjoy the city, I enjoyed sitting at the docks, mainly due to nostalgia I had while playing the game for the first time. Nearly shed a tear.
After Miami, I went to Cancun, Mexico, where I did nothing but eat. Yup. This entire trip I basically did nothing but eat, which to be honest, WORTH IT! HAHA!
There wasn't really anything notable in Cancun other than, well, the food was good, but thats pretty much it. The road trip to tulum only takes 2-3 hours, but it took 8 hours because I went to the Chichen Itza. The Chichen Itza was a wonder of the world for a few years, but I still dont quite understand what's so special about it. It's just a bunch of big rocks?!
In Tulum I absolutely did not go anywhere other than my hotel. Why, you may ask? Well.. quite frankly.. the hotel is 25km wide, it has a whole water park, a cinema, 7 different restaurants, 2 buffets, a kids club AND teens club, a whole complex area for the staff, all for free. Completely free!!
"But Arthur, how??"
I don't know.. also, room service is free. So I did what any other sane human being would do: ROOM SERVICE MUKBANG AT 2AM! HAHAHA
thanks for reading :O
